So I’m listening to old episodes of the Mel Blanc show. You probably know him as the voice of nearly every character from the classic Bugs Bunny cartoons. Well, he also had his own sitcom radio show where he plays himself and another character that sounds suspiciously like Porky Pig. It’s pretty good – it holds up well despite being about about 65 years old.
This page is great! April and Joel work really well together and are becoming my favorite pair in this comic. The art, layout and dialog support each other especially nicely for this page.
I never knew Mel Blanc had his own show. Where did you find the recordings? The only non-Loony Tunes I ever remember from him was Speedy Gonzales singing, “The Hat I Got for Christmas is Too Big”, and I only heard that once or twice, years ago.
Thanks. 🙂 I think I’m slowly improving. Comic illustration is a pretty tough skill to master.
You can find episodes of the Mel Blanc show on the Internet Archive: https://archive.org/details/OTRR_Mel_Blanc_Singles. Mel was pretty prolific – he also did the voice of Woody Woodpecker, Barney Rubble and lots of minor characters.
I like the rank badges on the villagers’ arms. It amuses me to think of them as being sewn on. 🙂
